👇Understanding Animal Behaviour
🐕 Dogs
Dogs act based on what is happening around them. They don’t get angry or want to get back at you, so if your dog does something like pee on the carpet, it’s not to be naughty—it’s because they needed to go outside sooner.
Sometimes dogs may act in ways that seem bad, like destroying things. This could be because they are bored, scared, or anxious. Instead of punishing them, stay calm and try to figure out what is causing the problem. It’s your job to help them.
Things to remember:
- Choose a dog that fits your lifestyle and home.
- Train your dog early with rewards (treats or praise) to teach them good behaviour.
- Teach your dog where to go to the toilet.
- If you're worried about your dog's behaviour, ask your vet for help.
- Never shout or hurt your dog. This can make their behaviour worse.
- Dogs need regular exercise. Take them for walks and let them run to stay healthy and happy.
- Dogs are playful! Give them toys and let them play with people or other friendly dogs.
- Make sure your dog has a safe space to hide if they are scared.
- Watch for signs that your dog might be stressed, scared, or unwell (like licking lips, hiding, or acting aggressively). Talk to a vet if this happens.
